MY CHOICES , MY STORY : A DECADE OF UNJUSTIFIED ATTACKS

Choosing a movie, song, book, or TV show is a personal experience. It often means we connect with a message or theme, find it entertaining, or simply use it as a way to take a break from our busy lives. The reasons for our choices are as varied as we are—we might enjoy the story, learn something new, or appreciate the artistry behind the work.

However, it's frustrating when people judge our choices. It's a common and hurtful experience to be criticized or even bullied for what you watch, read, or listen to. When someone assumes you only like a piece of media because of the actors or a specific aesthetic, they're missing the bigger picture. The performance of an actor or the visual style can be a factor, but it's not the only reason.

The idea that we should only enjoy what others do is a narrow and unkind way to view the world. Everyone has their own unique tastes and preferences, and it's a shame that some people try to impose their favorites on others. Whether it's a bully expecting you to like their music, or a writer being told what to write about, this behavior is a form of control and a lack of respect for individuality. Your choices are your own, and you don't need to justify them to anyone.
