THE DOUBLE STANDARD

Canada is known for welcoming immigrants and fighting against discrimination. However, I have personally been targeted for years based on my race, gender, and age.

In this note, I want to address a specific issue: how some individuals, in the name of supporting the gay and lesbian community, are isolating and labeling straight people. By subjecting straights to inappropriate name-calling if they talk to or befriend the opposite sex, these actions are not only not helping the gay and lesbian community but are also creating an environment of discrimination against freedom and Canadian principles.

I believe this harassment should stop immediately. Supporting one group's rights should never direct the public to bully another group. Everyone deserves to live without prejudice.
