SILENCING THE EAGLE
An Eagle's flight
One day, an eagle flew from the top of a rock.
The eagle glanced at his own wings and said,
"Today, everyone on earth is under our wings."
When I jump to the top of the sky, I can see with my sharp eyes if there is a speck at the bottom of the sea.
If a mosquito moves on the dust, the movement of that mosquito is obvious to our eyes.
Don't worry much, and don't be afraid of fate.
Look at what has emerged from this wheel of torment.
Suddenly, from an ambush, a strong archer shot an arrow from fate and destiny at him.
Analysis of the Poem
The poem "The Eagle's Plight" uses the metaphor of an eagle to represent a person with great ambition, foresight, and success. The eagle's ability to see a "speck at the bottom of the sea" or a "mosquito moves on the dust" symbolizes a journalist's sharp eye for detail and their dedication to uncovering the truth. The eagle's confident declaration that everyone is "under our wings" reflects a sense of control and a belief in the power of truth and transparency.
However, the poem takes a dark turn with the sudden appearance of an "archer" who shoots an arrow from "fate and destiny." This archer represents a hidden, malicious force—a group of individuals who use harassment and deceit to control and silence those who challenge them. This force does not confront the eagle directly but attacks from "an ambush," highlighting the cowardly and secretive nature of their actions.
The poem also touches on themes of greed, jealousy, and harassment. Those who harass the journalist are not motivated by truth but by a desire to protect their own corruption, malpractice, and unethical behavior. They try to undermine the journalist's credibility by using a deceptive tactic: they pretend to be the victim's own family or friends. This is done by "spoofing and copying" voices and mannerisms, creating a psychological torment that makes the victim question themselves. The final, chilling line—"we are you"—is a powerful statement of psychological manipulation, where the harassers attempt to make the victim feel as though the mistakes or issues they are being accused of are their own.
Ultimately, the poem is a commentary on the struggle faced by journalists and others who speak out against powerful, corrupt individuals. It illustrates how these individuals use psychological and emotional abuse, rather than direct confrontation, or discussion about criticism. .
