ITALY TRIP - PART 1
My trip to Italy summary:
There's a noticeable lack of essential services for visitors. I've found no first aid readily available in some tourist areas, and the police seem unresponsive even in dire situations.
Getting around has been a constant struggle.
When you do find one, there's a risk of being taken advantage of: drivers may pretend not to understand English, drive you to the wrong destination, and then demand double the fair.
The weather has been extremely hot, and while locals might be used to it, there's no apparent prevention or support for tourists struggling with the heat.
Even in what are supposed to be the best hotels, the service has been shocking. I returned to find my luggage left in the lobby and my room unexpectedly gone. Calling room service came back with kitchen is closed !!
This kind of disorganization adds significant stress to an already difficult trip.
Overall, this has been a truly unexpected journey so far. I'll keep you posted on how things progress.
