CHALLENGING THE NARRATIVE: TRUTH IN AN AGE OF EXAGGERATION | Sam Smith, Author

In a courtroom, lawyers on both sides attempt to clear their clients and assign blame to the opposing party. Throughout that process, arguments are often exaggerated. It is ultimately the responsibility of the judge and jury to weigh those exaggerations against the actual evidence to determine the truth.

A similar dynamic occurs when people apply physic`s rule ,the principle of proving a theory by disproving its opposite. Rather than looking directly at facts, they focus on manufacturing reasonable doubt or building counter-narratives. Over the past decade, I have personally witnessed this kind of exaggeration applied to almost every word, article, and story I share.

For instance, certain individuals previously used communication channels to claim that a real-life hero is behind my works and books , pointing my book`s charactor in Waiting Eyes on the Road. After I repeatedly clarified to my readers that the character is entirely fictional, those same individuals pivoted to exaggerating the exact opposite. When people cannot prove a claim, creating confusion and reasonable doubt becomes a tactic to obscure the truth. In this case, these tactics seem aimed at covering up two decades of neglect and ignorance.

Instead of guessing, inventing theories, or misapplying logic, how about we stick to the facts. The main reason I started my writing career is by telling my real story in my first book (Can we talk ? ) The desire to provide clear context about my life . There is no need for public speculation , rumors or misusing telecommunication systems —that book explains everything about me and my background directly.

If anyone has questions, I encourage you to ask me directly rather than judging, speculating, spreading misinformation, or trying to prove that the opposite of their theory is wrong. Unlike those who ignored the truth and law to cover their mistakes, my family and I are an open book. There is no need for us to hide or explain why your theories are false, or answer your exaggerated guessing every minute.
