Mr. Reza Pahlavi,
I am writing to you today as an independent Iranian-Canadian writer to address a persistent and distressing issue that has significantly impacted my personal and private life for several years.
As someone who sheds light on political and social issues, I operate with complete independence and remain free of any conflicts of interest. Since the onset of recent unrest, my primary objective has been to urge journalists and media outlets to report authentic news regarding Iran—prioritizing truth over partisan benefits or biased narratives.
We share a profound love for our country of origin. While I was only a child during your father’s reign, I carry a complex mix of memories from that era. I also recognize the historical pain your family has endured and the way international "allies" shifted their loyalties when the political tides turned.
However, I must be candid regarding my stance on governance in 2026. My belief in democratic principles remains firm: I do not believe that leadership should be a matter of inheritance rather than qualification, nor do I believe in the concentration of power within a single individual for decades. In a modern world, the right of the people to self-determine and change their leadership—a presidential approach—is essential. I have noted your own public statements suggesting you do not seek a crown, which indicates an awareness of this evolving global landscape.
The core reason for this correspondence is not to debate political ideology, but to address the actions of those who claim to be your supporters. For some time, individuals acting in your name have been attacking my work, interfering with my daily routine, and intruding upon my personal life under the guise of loyalty to your cause.
History shows us how quickly political tides can turn—we need only look at the shifting allegiances during the era of Dr. Mossadegh to see how easily "supporters" can transform. True democracy requires the existence of diverse options and the freedom to express dissenting opinions without fear of personal reprisal.
I am asking you to please direct your supporters to cease their interference in my personal life. While they are entirely free to hold and express their political views—which I am always willing to read and listen to as part of a democratic exchange—attacking an individual for their personal choices and opinions is a hallmark of the very dictatorship I believe you wish to oppose.
I invite you to engage with my blog and books should your schedule allow, as they offer a perspective rooted in the experiences of an ordinary writer navigating these turbulent times.
Thank you for your time and for listening to the voice of an independent writer.
