ENOUGH WITH THE RUMORS
As many of you know, I am the proud mother of two independent, successful daughters who have built careers entirely separate from the world of writing. While I take it as a compliment when people mistake them from me, I want to address a growing misconception: there is absolutely no competition or comparison between us. Any assumption to the contrary is entirely false.
I am writing this post to provide clarification and put an end to the rumors and assumptions circulating online.
There is a persistent piece of misinformation suggesting that my ex-husband or my daughters are American. This is incorrect. * My daughters and their father are Canadian.
- All four of us live in Canada, though we reside in different provinces due to our respective careers.
- My family has no involvement in politics. I am the only member of my family who writes about political issues. My writing is a direct result of my personal experiences with long-term workplace harassment, a toxic environment, and the negligence I have faced.
I have a life like anyone else—full of ups and downs. No one is perfect, and not every marriage is meant to last. It is disheartening that I must defend the basic reality of my private life against public speculation.
I have repeatedly asked the media and broadcasters to stop making assumptions. If there are questions, I invite people to ask me directly. Unfortunately, the nonstop accusations have not only impacted my health and my enjoyment of life, but they have also taken a toll on my family members both in Canada and overseas.
Currently, I feel I cannot even leave my apartment without facing new forms of harassment or hearing baseless theories about my siblings, my children, or my ex-husband.
It appears that individuals who disagree with my political and social opinions are using these theories to try to silence me. Let me be clear: it will not work. These harassment tactics only make me more determined to speak out against those who target freedom, democracy, and North American culture.
For the final time, I am asking for the rumors to stop. Please respect my family’s privacy and allow us to live our lives without being the subject of manufactured drama.
