WHAT IF ?
It's known that "what if" scenarios are used in certain projects to compare outcomes. However, subjecting someone's life to "what if" scenarios to compare and analyze their experiences is unacceptable and abusive. This behavior involves forcing victims to endure various hypothetical situations, such as:
- What if you lost your job?
- What if you never got married?
- What if your partner was a criminal?
- What if you were living in poverty?
- What if you were socially isolated?
- What if you were facing legal troubles?
- What if you lost your home or livelihood?
This form of mental, emotional, and financial abuse can be particularly damaging when perpetrated by those in positions of authority, such as healthcare professionals or law enforcement. When doctors and specialists engage in "what if" scenarios, such as:
- What if you had a terminal illness?
- What if you required experimental treatment?
- What if you didn't survive?
It can have devastating consequences. Not only do these systems fail to provide support, but they also put victims in harm's way, using their lives as test cases to compare outcomes with othiers. This behavior is a gross exploitation of power and trust, and it's essential to recognize its harm and take action to prevent it.
