EMOTIONAL TAX
There are individuals who constantly scrutinize and criticize others, seeking to find fault or fuel for gossip. Regardless of one's actions or choices, these people will always find something to disparage. Whether you're engaged in intellectual pursuits, enjoying leisure activities, or simply living your life, they'll criticize and gossip.
What's more, these individuals often expect others to:
- Tolerate their harassment and verbal abuse without reacting
- Be grateful for whatever scraps they're left with after being taken advantage of
- Refrain from discussing their own failures and ignorance
- Either join their clique or accept and appreciate their bullying behavior
What's striking about this bullying behavior is that they expect you to speak and object on their behalf, even for their own problems or their children's issues.
They seem to believe that others should be invested in their personal struggles and advocate for them, while simultaneously disregarding others' boundaries and autonomy.
Bullies can be jealous of even the smallest joys in life, such as your laugh, tears, happiness, or enjoyment of anything. They often make assumptions that you're receiving financial or emotional support from people in power or wealthy individuals, fueling their resentment and hostility.
