BEYOND THE WELCOME MAT

Some countries have implemented immigration policies designed to attract individuals with valuable skills, experiences, and financial resources to bolster their economies. This approach can be mutually beneficial, as immigrants bring their expertise and investments, contributing to the growth and improvement of various industries.

However, there are also individuals who oppose the immigration system, often using tactics like blocking, blacklisting, or exploiting the status of immigrants to object to their presence. These objections frequently center around claims that immigrants are a drain on resources.

Personally, I've encountered individuals born in Canada who claim that immigrants are taking their jobs and even their relationships. While I initially interpreted these claims as humorous, it became apparent that these individuals were serious in their opposition, particularly when immigrants achieve success. This hostility seems to stem from a fear that immigrants might surpass them professionally or personally.

This kind of animosity adds another layer of pressure on immigrants, who are already dealing with financial and cultural adaptation challenges. It appears that the very system designed to facilitate immigration should also protect these individuals from injustice and harassment, ensuring they don't feel compelled to leave the country or deterred from entering in the first place.
