NOWHERE TO CALL HOME
Immigrants often encounter significant barriers in their new countries. It can take months or even years to adapt to a new culture and environment. Unfortunately, it seems that some people who were born in the host country try very hard to send them back. They assume immigrants take jobs and opportunities from them.
However, immigrants often enter the country under specific conditions, such as having a certain level of education, making an investment, or having experience. On the other hand, the country immigrants left behind may consider them rebels and a group that doesn't belong to them anymore.
In this difficult situation, immigrants put in all their effort and hard work to overcome many obstacles. Yet, it seems their efforts are not enough for the host country to accept them as real citizens. As a result, they may not feel like they belong to either side and face discrimination from both their new country and their old one.
There is also a group of immigrants who move to a new country but prefer to live as they did in their old one, without adopting the new culture. They are often the ones who are allowed to go back to their country of origin, based on the assumption that they still belong there. The question is: in the 21st century, must we still live in a way that is dictated by "this" or "that"? Or are we free to live our lives in any way we choose, as long as it doesn't interfere with the freedom of others?
