THE MOMENT OF LIFT

The Moment Of Lift by Melinda Gates is a book about  empowering women . This book's language is easy and makes readers stay with the story which deserves 5 stars but , with all respect for her contribution in the women's world, personally I disagree with some of her comments about empowering women or resolving existing issues.

This book is focusing on cultures that are mostly impacted by poverty which have been improved or could be improved by root cause of  financial aspects of issues.

While other issues that somewhat are called inequality are not necessarily putting down women's value but protecting them , those historical cultures are not changing easily by inserting money .

In some cultures asking women not to work , not being assigned to difficult  positions, or not encouraging them to take risks , or apply for any job is for believing in differences between men and women . The same way we usually buy a dall for our baby girl and a plastic gun for our baby boy because we are taught a boy should protect girls and it is a girl who gives birth and takes care of her kids.

Those cultures are coming from thousands of years of history and for changing them, we should spend years training and updating on beliefs and backup stories. We face inequality in the United States between highly educated , high income women who are coming from a very rich family.

It looks like they are already empowered but when you listen to their story with a closer look they are carrying hidden issues covered under their success and lifestyle .

In the last chapter of the book Melinda points to accepting suffering to prevent hate. Acceptance is coming after a long long time of suffering which is not optional. It is a force , survivors accept their conditions to live but are not stopping suffering and anger. Therefore, it looks like peace but is a fire under ash and it is the main reason for wars in the world .

Overall this book is a very valuable documentary about all efforts and sacrifices women have made for women .
